Using PsiQuantum Development Kit
for Development, Verification, and Resource Estimation of Fault-Tolerant Quantum Algorithms
Sunday, September 13, 2026 · IEEE Quantum Week 2026 (QCE26)
About the tutorial
As the field of quantum computing transitions from NISQ to fault-tolerant mode,
the scale of quantum algorithms of interest grows. Quantum software toolkits designed for FTQC algorithms
should support development and validation of those large-scale quantum algorithms, as well as help
quantum software developers analyze their performance using quantum resource estimation and
identify the parts of the algorithms or their implementations that need to be optimized.
In this tutorial, we will show PsiQuantum Development Kit - an open-access toolkit that supports development, validation,
and analysis of fault-tolerant quantum algorithms. In the first part of the tutorial,
we will walk attendees through implementing quantum algorithms and validating them using PsiQDK.
In the second part of the tutorial, we will introduce the main concepts necessary to work with
quantum resource estimation and demonstrate PsiQDK tools for performing numeric analysis
of resources required to run a quantum program and finding the bottlenecks.
This tutorial is designed for researchers and practitioners in fault-tolerant quantum computing, as well as students.
The material will require basic knowledge of quantum computing but no prior knowledge of specific application domains
such as quantum chemistry. Attendees with practical experience in quantum computing will benefit the most from the tutorial.

Software setup
- The tutorial focuses on PsiQuantum Development Kit, a Python meta-package used to write, analyze, optimize, and visualize fault-tolerant quantum computing algorithms. Follow the installation guide to set up PsiQDK locally.
- The materials used in the tutorial can be found in Workbench Quatum Katas. Make sure to get the latest version of the repository before the tutorial!
- We'll use Jupyter Notebooks in the tutorial. For the best experience, we recommend using Visual Studio Code.
